ABOUT

Darren C Fisher

Artist · Researcher · Educator

I am an artist, researcher and educator working across comics, drawing, graphic recording and visual storytelling. My practice combines creative work with research, using drawing and sequential art to document experience, communicate complex ideas and explore the relationship between image, narrative and lived experience.

My work spans autobiographical and diary comics, research and informational comics, illustration and live graphic recording, alongside teaching and practice-based research.

PRACTICE

Comics have been central to my practice for a lifetime. My doctoral research explored truth, identity and representation in autobiographical comics, while my ongoing diary-comics practice uses everyday drawing as a space for observation, experimentation and reflection.

Alongside personal work, I produce comics and illustrations for research, education and public communication. These projects often involve translating specialist knowledge, lived experience or complex discussions into accessible visual narratives.

Graphic recording extends this approach into live events, workshops and conferences, where conversations are transformed into illustrated records that capture both information and the character of the event.
